With a heavy heart, we share the tragic story of Md Akinur Rahman, a 45-year-old devoted father, husband, and the sole provider for his family. Akinur was a respected shopkeeper in his village of Baniyachong, Habiganj, going about his daily routine when, on the 5th of August 2024, he became the victim of an unexpected and horrific event. While the police fired on a crowd, Akinur was tragically struck in the chest. Despite being rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical, his life could not be saved. His death is an absolute tragedy, leaving his family and the entire community mourning the loss of a hardworking man who was loved by all who knew him. His legacy endures, and he will be remembered as an exemplary citizen who was unjustly taken from his family and community.
Akinur’s role extended far beyond that of a shopkeeper; he was the pillar of his family. His wife, Rakiya Akhter, and their three young children, aged 9, 3.5 years, and 16 months, now face a future of hardship and uncertainty due to his sudden and untimely death. Their eldest daughter is currently enrolled in a Madrasa, but the younger children are too young to fully grasp the magnitude of their loss. With Akinur’s death, the family has lost its primary source of income, leaving them unable to pay for basic necessities such as food, shelter, and education. As a mother and homemaker, Rakiya now faces the daunting task of supporting her children in the midst of overwhelming grief. The sudden shift from relative stability to financial instability threatens the children’s future, making it crucial for them to receive urgent financial assistance.
The loss of Akinur has not only deprived the family of a loving father and husband but has also dismantled the financial security he tirelessly built for them.
