A Cry for Justice and Healing: Supporting Saif Arefin Rahat’s Recovery Journey

Victim's Picture: Saif Arefin Rahat

Saif sustained severe injuries and his body was severely damaged.

During a peaceful protest on July 18, 2024, Saif Arefin Rahat, a courageous 20-year-old student, suffered an unspeakable trauma. Saif, a Dhaka resident, was among the protesters when police began shooting indiscriminately at them, resulting in a tragic escalation of events that fateful day. As a result of the onslaught of bullets, Saif sustained severe injuries and his body was severely damaged. He still has more than 350 fragments embedded in his body, and five metal fragments remain lodged in his eyes.

Saif is the only son of his parents, who have sacrificed everything for his education and future. His story is not only one of pain but of resilience. When tragedy struck, his father, Md Sayem Uddin, lost his job while rushing to the hospital to be by Saif's side. He worked tirelessly in a private job to provide for his family. Saif's medical care needs are urgently urgent, and the family is struggling to afford them. The struggles of the Uddin family are like a mountain climber scaling a mountain, one step at a time. Each step requires immense effort, and every now and then, they face new challenges. But they remain determined to continue climbing, knowing that their journey will eventually lead them to safety.

The mother of Saif, Fultara Khatun, watches helplessly as her son battles daily for his life in Bahanpur, a village in Chapainababganj that lacks the resources needed to survive. Having always lived modestly and with pride, this family is now humbled, asking for help to help their son in this difficult time.

It is imperative that those who have the power to make a difference, who are compassionate and empathic, provide Saif with the financial and medical assistance he so desperately needs, step forward. Through your support, he can be offered hope, healing, and a future beyond the violence he has experienced.

Let us lend a hand to Saif in this time of need by being generous, kind, and loving. Together, we can ensure he doesn't become another forgotten victim of injustice, but a survivor with a story of resilience and hope.

Let us come together and make a difference for Saif and his family. To contribute, please visit https://www.resilience-usa-foundation.com/donate.
